  Antennas

Portable Antennas
Nearson Incorporated currently designs and manufactures two distinctive types of Portable Antennas:

Connector Mount Antennas
This type of antenna is the most common mounting style. These antennas simply attach to the outside of housing using one of many different type RF Connectors. The most common of these are the SMA, TNC, and BNC, all of which are available in standard and reverse polarity configurations. Reverse Polarity connectors are important for FCC approval through Reg. 15 parts compliancy, which states that an antenna connecting to the outside of housing must have a non-conforming connector type.  FCC Compliant connectors include Reverse Polarity and Reverse Thread styles. Connector Mounts are available for all frequencies from UHF/VHF to 5.2 GHz. Please refer to the Antenna Selection guide to choose the best style for your application.

Flying Lead Antennas
For applications in the 802.11 (b), 2.4GHz, and 802.11(a) 5.x GHz ISM band WLAN, our Flying Lead  models were developed. These come standard with a 5 (five) inch RG178 cable lead terminating to a right angle MMCX plug. These flying leads eliminate the need for cable assemblies, since they are an integrated part of the antennas. Lengths and type of cable may be varied to suit your application. Antennas are available as straight and articulating (swivel) styles. The Flying Lead antenna is capable of re-tooling to fit your housing (NRE charges may apply). Most models will accommodate a SMA, MCX, MMCX, or ultra-miniature coaxial connectors such as Hirose U.FL series, I- PEX or equivalent connector.  All dipole 2.4 and 5.X models are available as fixed mount flying lead.  With dipole model, 467, offered in 900 MHz and model 191, offered in 800 MHz.  Please refer to product chart for model configuration and connector type.

Patch Antennas

Nearson's patch antennas are low-profile antennas that definitely build upon the numerous advantages that patch antennas have over other antennas.  Nearson patch antennas are inexpensive, lightweight and easily integrate with many types of surroundings and or accompanying electronics.

Omni-Directional Antennas

Nearson offers UV resistant white fiberglass clad omni-directional high gain antennas. These antennas range in lengths from 16 inches to 64 inches, are available in the cellular band, 900, WLAN, WiMax and 802.11(b) or (a) at 2.4-2.5 GHz and 5.725 to 5.825 GHz frequency bands. Each unit is packed with it's own aluminum alloy guide pipe and mounting bracket for ease in installation, and terminates to a female N connector attached to a Zinc alloy base with chrome plating. These rugged structure Omni's are the right choice for any outdoor application where a high gain antenna is required. Cable assembly is available upon customer request in conjunction with the antenna.

External Antennas

Voyager and Power Ranger series antennas are unmatched solutions for extending the wireless range of 802.11b, 802.11b+ and 802.11G wireless PCI cards.  This series allows multi-positioning of the antenna to achieve maximum performance as well as the capability to place antenna out of sight. The omni-directional design of this antenna allows for a uniform coverage area.  Simply attach the antenna jack to your wireless LAN card and locate up to six feet away.

Embedded Antennas

Embedded antennas are designed to match the ground plane of each device and not a one size fits all solution.  Some may be designed to fit directly on the PC board while others still require a bit more finessing to achieve the end-users desired requirements.  Embedded antennas offer customers flexibility for future design modifications, while affording optimal performance at reduced costs. Embedded antennas applications include, PCMCIA cards for wireless modems, wireless LAN, Bluetooth, Palm computer (PDA) Technology, bar code scanners and point of sale RFID, as well as many others.  With these units becoming smaller and smaller yet requiring more and more output, embedding is the future of RF miniaturization.  NEARSON design teams utilize state of the art computer simulation technology to speed up the development cycle, thus reducing production-manufacturing turn around time.  Our engineers work closely with each customer in all aspects of design, implementation, and production for the optimum embedded antenna solution.

Ceiling Mount Antennas

Nearson, Inc. is pleased to offer the Ariel 6000 series patch antennas.  Good things do come in small packages.  A pleasant departure from the one size fits all concept, the Ariel is a solution for the homeowner or small office wireless integrations system.  Light-weight and affordable, this antenna installs easily on the wall or ceiling or can be left to sit on the desktop.  It measures 3.25" X 2.5" X 1" tall.  When antenna is fully extended, it stands just 3.5" tall.
The Ariel 6000 operates at 2.4 GHz (S6010) or 5.x GHz (K6010) (IEEE 802.11 b,g,a),  WLAN and Bluetooth applications, with a gain of 7 dBi.  Integrates easily with most wireless routers and access points.  Simply remove the factory antenna from the AP or router, connect the Ariel 6000 Reverse Polarity SMA Male connector to the back of the unit, and position the unit in an unobstructed location for maximum performance.  Ariel 6000 comes with a 5' white cable for flexibility. The Flip up antenna feature allows user to position the antenna for optimal performance.   As with any wireless product, performance could be impacted by environmental conditions.  Never before has so much been available in such a small package.

Corner Reflector Antennas

Nearson, Inc. offering is a low cost, high efficiency 2.4GHz Corner Reflector Antenna.  Perfect for the home or small office.  The 4000 series comes in two sizes.  4010 is 2.4GHz 12 dBi gain 5" X 3.75" standing out from corner by only 2.5". 4020 is 2.4 GHz 15 dBi gain 8.5" X 3.75" standing out from corner by only 2.5".  Both models come with an easy to install corner bracket.  These antennas have a 5' white cable, terminating to a Reverse Polarity SMA Male plug.  The 4000 series will work with most manufacturers on the market today.  The 4000 series is perfect for systems integrations with Access Points or router applications in WLAN(IEEE 802.11 b,g,) where space is limited but coverage and gain are crucial concerns.   Affording a 60 degree beam width, these antennas are perfect solutions for indoors or out.  Made of UV protective material, these models will give you years of reliable service.
