EMBEDDED ANTENNAS
Antennas are a necessary part of any wireless device, but there are times when a protruding antenna is just not suitable. Such is the case for a handheld unit, which must be easily accessible. These cases call for a small, easy to manufacture invisible antenna. Embedded antennas are designed to match the ground plane of each device and not a one size fits all solution. Some may be designed to fit directly on the PC board while others still require a bit more finessing to achieve the end-users desired requirements. Price constraints, performance, interference and specific absorption rate (SAR) are some of the many issues that need to be addressed during the design process of embedded antennas.
